Gyan's family

Gyan or Gyan "Bhaiya" as we all knew him was an affable person who always wore a smile and greeted everyone with the same warmth and care. He joined Blue Notes in 2008 and has been an integral part of the Blue Notes family. He was the first on call person for students, parents, teachers from scheduling lessons to watering the plants , he fulfilled every task with a smile and grace which only people who've met him could relate to.

Year 2014 was a devastating year, as he was diagnosed with CKD failure and within few months had to undergo biweekly dialysis. With a little help from friends and well wishers we managed to get him much needed medicare. The resilience and optimism that he showed to continue on his journey and secure his children's future was nothing short of a miracle. Often many parents/students did not know of his health condition as he never let that come through.

He developed a cardiac problem on April 23 which deteriorated quickly that led to his untimely demise. The apathy shown by the current dispensation on this ongoing pandemic has led to many losing their loved ones and a lot many to fend for themselves who lack financial aid.

Our team involving the school management, students, parents and well wishers have join hands to help Gyan's family with this loss.  We urge you to please come forward and open your hearts to help his children continue on their dream.

OBITUARY

PRANAI GURUNG - Founder/Director (Blue Notes School of Music)

We lost our gyan thank you GOI

Will miss you my friend , my brother !

BIPUL CHETTRI - Singer/songwriter

Gyan was an affable, soft-spoken gentle man who helped Pranai Gurung run his music school in Delhi which also doubles up as our rehearsal space for the longest time. Gyan left us yesterday due to paucity of beds and the inability to get him decent medical help in the capital city of Delhi when he needed it the most. Such is the current state of medical infrastructure that a person has to die in such circumstances. We offer our condolences to the bereaved family and will always remember him as a most helpful, simple man with a lovely smile. He leaves behind a wife and two teenage children. Godspeed Gyan.

SAHIL WARSI – Ex-band member (Drift The Trio)

There was a point, a long time ago, where Reuben, Pranai and I were rehearsing pretty much every day for a year at Blue Notes school. Gyan was a fixture - I’d see him every day, and honestly, he might as well have been in the band. Such a wonderful person, and such a loss. My heart goes out to his family.

VAISHALI SISIR CHAKRAVARTY – Founder / Director (Joy of Drama)

All of us at Joy Of Drama have met him in some or the other way at Pranai Gurung 's Blue Notes School of Music - our first centre for drama. We will be indebted to his smile and compassion. Praying for his soul. He was a very kind and beautiful person.
